Edgartown Conservation Commission Violated State's Open Meeting Laws

The Vineyard Gazette is reporting that the Edgartown Conservation Commission violated the state’s open meeting laws and state rules by meeting in executive sessions to discuss the termination of a lease.

The lease was between the Trustees of Reservation and Katama Farm last summer.

The town was notified of the violations of the rules by the state Attorney General’s office in response to a complaint filed by a town resident.

The AG’s office found that the lease was terminated without public input but the violation was unintentional, the commission must release the minutes from the executive sessions.
