Monday was the three-year anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon.
His K-9 partner, named Nero, was also seriously hurt during the shooting.
Cape Cod State Representative Steven Xiarhos was a Deputy Police Chief at the Yarmouth PD when the shooting happened.
He marked the occasion yesterday by calling for the Massachusetts legislature to pass "Nero's Law", which would update an existing law which prevented the dog from receiving emergency treatment after the shooting.
