Barnstable Police Say Car Fires Were Result Of Drunk Driver

The Barnstable Police Department alleges a drunk driver caused a fire in Hyannis this past weekend.

The BPD reports a truck fire spread to two other motor vehicles that were parked at a condo complex on Bearse's Way overnight Saturday.

Investigators learned the driver, Julio Ramos-Rivera of Hyannis, collided with a guardrail on Route 6, sustained a flat tire, and traveled for about three miles.

It is believed that the heat and sparks generated by Ramos-Rivera driving on a rim caused the fire.

No injuries were reported.
