The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is announcing that for the first time, the South Africa-based variant of Covid-19 has been found in the bay state.
The case is a woman in her 20s who resides in Middlesex County who had not reported traveling, according to the health department.
Officials are concerned about the Coronavirus variants because they are possibly more contagious.
