Association To Preserve Cape Cod Releases Report On Water Quality

A new report about the health of Cape Cod’s bodies of water is out from the Association to Preserve Cape Cod.

The organization’s “State of the Waters” report found that nearly 80% of coastal water bodies surveyed, and over 40% of freshwater ponds and lakes, had unacceptable water quality.

Both numbers represent an increase from last year's study.

Officials are focused on algae blooms caused by warmer temperatures and higher nutrient loads from septic systems, storm water runoff and fertilizers.
