There Was A 'Gilmore Girls' Easter Egg During The 2020 Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards aired on Sunday evening (September 20) and went (mostly) virtual due to the ongoing pandemic. Though some of the evenings presenters and nominees appeared in person at Los Angeles' Microsoft theater, the majority of honorees called into the awards show via zoom.

For the nosiest amongst us, this meant we got a sneak peak into some of our favorite celebrities' homes. During the presentation for the Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series category, viewers were delighted to see inside Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino's home. The husband and wife are frequent creative collaborators—they worked together on Sherman-Palladino's Gilmore Girls, as well as more recently on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel—and were competing against each other in the Emmys category. Unfortunately, they both lost the award to Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy and Andrew Cividino.

Despite losing out on the golden statue, fans were still thrilled by Sherman-Palladino and Palladino's appearance at the awards show. Fans who didn't get too distracted by Sherman-Palladino's fun mask-themed top hate were able to spot a sentimental Gilmore Girls Easter Egg in their home. Above the fireplace, Sherman-Palladino and Palladino hung the sign for the 'Dragonfly Inn.'

As all Gilmore Girl fans know, Lorelai Gilmore spent the early seasons of the popular show dreaming of opening her very own inn. Finally, in season four, Lorelai's dreams come true when she and her best friend Sookie St. James open the Dragonfly Inn. As of the events of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which debuted on Netflix in 2016, the Dragonfly Inn is still open and as quaint as ever.

Now let's all keep our fingers crossed Sherman-Palladino is working on a plan to bring us back to Stars Hollow some day soon.
