State Court Rules Police Can't Deny Release Of Booking Materials To Public

The State Supreme Court has ruled that a police department cannot deny the media booking photos or arrest reports from incidents involving police officers or other public officials.

The Boston Globe sued for that information in a case involving the Cape Cod/Islands and Plymouth District Attorneys.

The High Court ruled that the public interests in disclosing the information was more highly valued than the privacy of the individual.

It took six years for the case to finally reach a conclusion with the high court decision.
