Tiger Woods Has Minor Knee Surgery, Expects To Play In October

BMW Championship - Final Round

Tiger Woods had minor surgery on his knee following a disastrous month of August. The 43-year-old golfer made the announcement on Twitter and says he expects to play at the Zozo Championship in Japan, which begins on October 26.

Dr. Vern Cooley performed the minor arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage damage in Tiger's left knee. He expects Tiger to make a full recovery and does not foresee any future issues.

"We did what was needed, and also examined the entire knee. There were no additional problems."

The surgery was performed during the Tour Championship which Tiger failed to qualify for, despite winning the event in 2018. His injury problems started to flare up at the beginning of August. He was forced to withdraw from The Northern Trust after one round due to an oblique strain and then finished in a tie for 37th place during the BMW Championship last weekend.

Woods has 81 PGA Tour wins in his career and is just one victory behind Sam Snead's all-time record. He has also won 15 Majors, leaving him only three wins away from Jack Nicklaus' record of 18.
