NRC Clears Transfer Of Pilgrim Power Plant From Entergy To Holtec

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has paved the way for the transfer of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station license from the current owner Entergy Corporation to the now new owner Holtec International. The new company plans to decommission the Power Station on what it says will be an “accelerated basis.” The order is effective immediately. The Attorney General, Maura Healey says she is looking at all options. The plant had been a power generator since 1972. The Governor which also wanted the process to slow down remains on vacation and has not commented. Healey does not believe that the new enterprise met the burden pertaining to financial and technical capacity. The A-G says she is deeply disappointed. The NRC is not commenting.
