Lawsuit Over New Dennis-Yarmouth School Dropped

The Yarmouth Selectboard last night has dropped its longstanding suit against the town of Dennis over school funding for a new regional school.

What is in the new agreement that allowed for the dropping of the suit is unclear since it is a protected issue as part of closed door sessions in the Open Meeting Law. What we do know is that the agreement has to go through the town meetings in both communities this fall.

The 11th hour agreement sets the stage for state aid for the school project. One local resident, who identified himself during a public speakout as Thomas Sullivan says he is filing a suit in Superior Court challenging the process.

The suit is unlikely to stop the initial phases of the project.
