Chatham is putting a safety measure in place to protect a beach where children receive swimming lessons from great white sharks.
Last month, town meeting voted against spending money on a shark barrier system for Oyster Pond, which isn't coastal but sharks could theoretically wind their way through to it.
The Cape Cod Chronicle reports the town harbormaster will patrol the pond during swimming lessons. Those are set to begin on July 1st.
