Young Man Admits Responsibility For Shining Laser At Ferry

The Coast Guard is reminding people that it is illegal to interfere with the duty of federal law enforcement after a ferry passenger allegedly pointed a laser at a crew.

This involved a Steamship Authority ferry that was going from Martha's Vineyard to Woods Hole and a Coast Guard vessel that was on a routine patrol last Thursday.

A spokesperson for the ferry service says passengers were told they would be detained until it was discovered who shone the laser, and a young man admitted responsibility.

The Coast Guard declined to get law enforcement involved, according to a Martha's Vineyard Times report.
