The Mashpee Wampanoag Police Department says "mystery solved" regarding a clear liquid that was poured into the Mashpee River Herring Run. The police department had put out a warning saying a non-tribal member dumped five-gallon jugs into the river on Tuesday night; it was concerned that the river had somehow been contaminated. Authorities say it is safe to take herring from the river after the water was tested. The individual apparently was dumping old fish tank water.
