Museum Wants Skeleton Of Humpback That Washed Up On Cape

The carcass of a humpback whale that washed ashore on the Cape could wind up in a museum. The bones of Vector have been taken for composting and cleaning in Maine; that process will last until next year. Following that, the skeleton will be reassembled and could go on display at the Maine State Museum in Augusta. A necropsy for Vector performed on a beach in Sandwich last week did not provide a clear indication for how the female that had been tracked by scientists for decades died.
