Osterville Village Library Announces “Happy and Healthy Aging” Series

OSTERVILLE MA: Back by popular demand, the Osterville Village Library is pleased to announce the “Happy and Healthy Aging” program series presented by Joe Carroll (PT DPT SCS) from Cape Cod Rehab. Come one, come all! Lectures start at 11:00 AM. Each week covers a different topic:

Monday, April 8th “The Amazing Human Body: Managing Stress” Find out how stress can have an impact on your life and learn effective strategies to manage it.

Monday, May 13th - “Exercise and Arthritis” Explore how exercise can help ease the symptoms of arthritis. Learn how to cope when your aches and pains dominate your daily life.

Monday, June 10th- “Balance: Fighting Falls” Learn to prevent injury by incorporating balance exercises into your fitness routine.

Monday, July 7th “Posture is my Signature” Learn how posture can affect your balance and mobility and what you can do to improve it.

Osterville Village Library Announces Pollination Ecology Presentation

OSTERVILLE MA: Save the bees! The Osterville Village Library is pleased to announce a presentation by Larry Dapsis, local entomologist with the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension of Barnstable County on Wednesday, April 10th at 1:00 PM.

Honeybees have been suffering catastrophic losses in recent years. The problem is apparent not only here on Cape Cod, but nationwide. This program will review honey bee biology and the factors responsible for their reported demise. In addition, we will review the status of other important pollinators in our midst, including bumble bees. What can you do to help? Join us for this informative and entertaining talk. Osterville Village Library Announces Book Art Workshop During April School Vacation

OSTERVILLE MA: The Osterville Village Library is pleased to announce a great way to spend the day during April school vacation. Make a dog or cat out of a recycled book! A series of simple folds and Voila! Instant art!

The one day workshop takes place on Wednesday April 17th from 10:00-11:30 AM. Materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own embellishments! No experience required. Ages 10 and over are welcome. Children under the age of 10 must have a parent or guardian to assist. Please register in advance due to limited space. Log on to ostervillevillagelibrary.org ###

Osterville Village Library Announces “Stop the Bleed Save A Life” Safety Training Program

OSTERVILLE MA: The Osterville Village Library is pleased to announce the upcoming "Stop the Bleed" program on April 16th from 5:00-6:30 PM. This is a national awareness campaign intended to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. While the class is designed to benefit all ages, parental discretion is advised in determining enrollment for younger children. “Stop The Bleed, Save A Life” will be presented by the Centerville, Osterville, Marstons Mills Fire department. Osterville Village Library Announces National Parks Travel Series From April To June.

OSTERVILLE MA: Discover the wonders of nature! Back by popular demand, the Osterville Village Library is pleased to announce The National Parks Travel Series presented by Stephen Farrar. Lectures start at 5:00 PM.

Thursday, April 18th“Waterfalls of Iceland,” Join us as Stephen Farrar takes you on his travels around the Nordic nation’s famed Ring Road. 3 national parks offer vistas captured on camera, each more stunning than the last.

Thursday, May 23rd “Tour of the South Island New Zealand,” Witness Mount Cook, the Milford Sound, glaciers, forests, beaches, and pasture upon pasture of rich farmland. Enjoy footage from 5 of the 10 National Parks on the South Island. In addition, stunning photos also include the highest bungy jump in the world (at the time)as carried out by your host Stephen Farrar.
