2 Taken to Cape Cod Hospital Following Route 6 Head-on Crash in Harwich

Two people escaped serious injuries this morning after a head-on crash on Route 6 in Harwich.

Massachusetts State Police Lt. Tom Ryan tells WXTK News the crash happened around 8 a.m. when a 20-year old Hyannis man, driving a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound on Route 6, crossed the median and struck a 2015 Toyota Sequoia head-on. Harwich Fire/EMS personnel had to extricate one of the drivers from their vehicle. Both drivers – the lone occupants – were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for minor injuries. The highway was closed in both directions for about 35 minutes until the scene was cleared.

Assisting the Mass State Police were the Harwich Police and Fire departments and MassDOT.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
