Falmouth Police responded early Monday morning for a report of a car crashing onto the beach at the end of Maravista Avenue.

Arriving at the scene officers found an unoccupied car at the water’s edge with the incoming tide starting to flood the vehicle.

The driver and lone occupant of the car, 31 year old Jesse Cooke, of East Falmouth, was located attempting to hide in an adjacent yard.

Falmouth police say an investigation revealed that the car had traveled through a stop sign at the end of Maravista Avenue, went across Menauhant Road and proceeded another approximately 100 feet before stopping at the edge of the water.

Cooke was arrested and charged with O.U.I. –liquor, operating to endanger, operating with a suspend license, speeding and marked lanes violation.

He also had a warrant issued for his arrest from the Barnstable Police Department for uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle.

In Falmouth District Court Cooke pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance pending a pre-trial hearing on April 18th.
