Cape Man Found Guilty of Assault & Battery on Child Under 14

A Forestdale man has been found guilty on five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a child under 14.

Blake Rider of 19 Windsong Rd, in Forestdale was initially charged with ten counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child under 14 and three counts of Reckless Endangerment of a Child. In late February of 2017, three victims – all juveniles – came forward with the allegations of assault that dated back to 2010.

Rider was found guilty of the charges after a four-day trial and was sentenced to two consecutive 2-and-a-half year terms for a total of five years in the House of Correction. He must also serve eight years of probation, remain alcohol free, undergo sex offender counseling, have no contact with victims, no employment or volunteer work with children, wear a GPS device, and register as a sex offender.

Rider was formerly employed by the Sandwich School District from 2009-to-2015 as a substitute teacher and tutor. The assaults did not occur at the school or involve students.
