NTSB Releases Report On Fatal Boat Sinking

2/26/19

The National Transportation Safety Board is releasing a report about the fatal sinking of a fishing vessel near Nantucket in 2017.

In a report the NTSB says the uninspected “Misty Blue” was harvesting clams nine miles southeast of the island when the port clam tank began flooding. The vessel then capsized and sank.

Two crew members, Jonathan Saraiva and Michael Roberts, died, while two others were rescued.

The federal agency says the probable cause of the incident was the flooding of the clam tank.
