W. Wareham Woman Facing Stolen Checks and Credit Card Charges

A West Wareham woman is facing numerous charges in connection with a string of stolen checks and credit cards.

Wareham Police arrested Lauren Narhuminti, 23, of 6 Carmichael Way following an extensive investigation.

The investigation began on February 6 when a Wareham resident notified police after no receiving new checks she had ordered. That individual had been advised by her bank that not only had they sent the checks but two of them had already been cashed. Detectives, working with bank investigators, discovered more and more stolen checks made out to the same individual.

As detectives were closing in on the case, Wareham Police received a call from the local T.J. Maxx store regarding a found wallet on February 13. Police discovered the wallet contained checks from numerous banks and multiple credit cards with different names on them. Police realized the owner of the wallet was the same person they were looking for.

Narhuminti was located on Friday, February 15 and arrested. She was arraigned in Wareham District Court on charges of Larceny over $1,200 by a single scheme, receiving stolen property under $1,200, 4 counts of uttering a false check, and receiving a stolen credit card.
