Wareham Woman Arrested For Assaulting and Injuring A Police Officer

Wednesday afternoon Wareham Police responded to the Depot Crossing Apartments for a report of a disturbance.

On the scene officers advised a female party that she had to leave the property or be subject to arrest.

37 year old Tracey Wightman of East Wareham indicated to police that she would have to be arrested.

While she was being placed under arrest, she began screaming and thrashing about and then intentionally went to the ground pulling two officers down with her, causing one of them to sustain a knee injury.

Once Wightman was secured in a cruiser she kicked the door open into one of the officers.

Officer Matthew Donovan was treated and released from Tobey Hospital for a knee injury and remains out of work due to the injury.

Wightman was charged with two counts of violation of a harassment prevention order, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
