Rockland Trust Grants Duffy Health Center $5,000

Duffy Health Center has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation to assist with interior building renovations at their 94 Main Street location. In particular, the grant is focused on the redesign of the second floor reception area, to create a more open and welcoming space for clients. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation’s support will be acknowledged with a plaque in the new space.

Duffy CEO Heidi Nelson notes, “Through this generous demonstration of community support by Rockland Trust, we have greatly improved the comfort of our second floor waiting area by providing more seating and privacy for our patients, many of whom suffer trauma and have significant behavioral health issues. A quiet, respectful space for this population was a priority of the Duffy staff for our renovation. At the same time we created a brighter, more functional workspace for our reception staff.”

The renovations to the existing clinic will allow Duffy staff to offer a greater breadth and depth of services in an efficient manner and with state-of-the art equipment. Included in the project is the creation of a Shared Services Suite, where medical providers can facilitate shared medical appointments for small groups of patients with the same diagnoses, providing patients with peer support as well as an opportunity to gain deeper knowledge about their condition.

The mission of Duffy Health Center is to provide comprehensive, integrated health care and support services to persons who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness on Cape Cod, and to improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations through community collaborations, leadership, and advocacy.
