Officers located a vehicle matching the description parked on the side of Swifts Beach Road. After a brief investigation it was determined that the woman in the SUV was carrying a loaded firearm.

Alyssa Sinclair, 21, of New Bedford was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm without a permit.

It appears that the incident was the result of an argument when the firearm was allegedly brandished.
