New Coop Foundation Awards Four Local Non-Profits

The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod has launched a new foundation – The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Foundation Trust, the Coop Foundation.

The initial grants, totaling $45,000, were awarded to four local, non-profit organizations; the Boy Scouts of America Cape & Islands Council, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Falmouth Housing Trust, and Lower Cape Outreach Council.

The Boys Scouts of America Cape & Islands Council is receiving $5,000 to fund a much-needed Welcome and Education Center at historic Camp Greenough in Yarmouth.

“This gift has given our campaign a great step forward, a huge boost,” said Michael Riley, the CEO of Boy Scouts of America Cape & Islands Council. “We’re looking to have this project underway fairly soon and we’re just thrilled with the partnership of the Coop. They’ve been wonderful supporters of scouting for many years and this new Foundation is exciting for everybody and the whole community.”

In addition to the initial $10,000 grant, the Coop Foundation pledged to donate an additional $5,000 each year for the following four years to the Boy Scouts of America Cape & Islands Council.

The Falmouth Housing Trust will receive $25,000 to fund renovations and repairs at the Gerald Flynn House, $10,000 will be going to the Cotuit Center for the Arts to support the Center’s Capital Campaign to redevelop the campus and build upon the newly purchased 1.5 acres with an additional $10,000 each year for the next four years, and the Lower Cape Outreach Council will receive $5,000.
