Veterans Day Activities in the Town of Barnstable

This year’s Veterans’ Day Parade will take place on Sunday, November 11th at 10:00 AM. Theparade will form next to the Town Hall Building, extending back to the Village Green. Volley byYarmouth Minutemen at 9:58 AM. The parade will step off promptly at 10:00 AM. The paradewill conclude at the Hyannis Village Green for the Annual Barnstable Soldiers Veterans’ DayProgram. This year’s keynote speaker is Second Lieutenant David R. Morris. Second LieutenantMorris is a Space Operations Officer at the 6th Space Warning Squadron based at Cape Cod AirForce Station, Massachusetts. He currently serves as a crew commander, conducting radaroperations in support of US missile warning and space surveillance capabilities. LieutenantMorris was born in England and hails from South Windsor, Connecticut. He is a third-generationmilitary officer, having received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps(ROTC) program in June of 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering fromthe University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His off-duty hobbies include aviation, rifle and pistolshooting, and baseball. He currently resides in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Veterans’ Day – Sunday, November 11th– Second Annual Veterans Town Hall

The Second Annual Barnstable Veterans Town Hall will be held on Sunday, November 11th from10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Barnstable Town Hall, 2nd Floor Hearing Room, Hyannis, MA - TenMinute Testimonies of Combat Veterans: Veterans Tell the Community What It Felt Like to Go toWar. Please join this community event hosted by the Town of Barnstable and the Cape &Islands Veterans Outreach Center: an opportunity to listen respectfully and demonstrate yourinterest genuinely. This is a solemn and non-political event. There is no question and answerperiod; no debate on the merits or justifications of war; no recrimination or accusations. Thisevent’s concept was created by Sebastian Junger, Journalist, Author and Veterans Advocate andsupported by Congressman Seth Moulton, former Marine and Iraq Veteran.
