The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released more than $136 million of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding to Massachusetts.
The funds include nearly $205,000 for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The release of the additional money was the result of a letter sent earlier this month by both Massachusetts U.S. Senators, Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren and 38 of their Senate colleagues urging the HHS to release the funds as quickly as possible.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is the main federal program that helps low-income households and seniors with their energy bills.
