Bourne Middle School "Swatted"

Schools in Bourne were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after an employee of Bourne Middle School received a phone call from someone claiming to be inside the school with a gun.

According to Bourne Police, the active shooter threat came shortly after 11 a.m. and prompted a temporary lockdown of Bourne elementary, middle, and high schools. Bourne Police responded to Bourne Middle school and determined the call was not credible and no students were in danger.

The fake call is known as “swatting”, where someone alerts 911 operators that a life-threatening situation is in progress that requires a response from a SWAT team.

Bourne Police are investigating the source of the prank call.
