The Steamship Authority is re-instating the 10-ride Ferry Pass Card, valid on the SSA’s traditional ferry service. The card allows for multiple passenger-usage and will be sold with the previous per-ticket discounts in place but will now have a state-mandated fifty cent per ride embarkation fee added to each trip, or $5 per card.
The SSA is also now requiring five medical appointments, instead of ten, for the same condition in a three-month time span for island residents to quality for the Medical Excursion Fare, which represents a 50% discount on the normal excursion fare pricing. Any follow-up appointments within one year also qualify for the discounted rate. The new policy goes into effect immediately.
The Authority says both changes were spurred by customer comments and input.
