Man Charged with Shooting Falmouth Officers Back in Court

The man charged with shooting two Falmouth Police officers was back in court Wednesday.

Malik Koval, 21, will have his case continued October 23. He is being held without bail since his arrest in July.

Koval is charged with two counts each of Assaut and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Resisting Arrest, and Disturbing the Peace.

On July 27, Falmouth Officers Donald DeMiranda and Ryan Moore were responding to a disturbance on Ashley Drive and while they were engaged with relatives of Koval outside of the house, Koval allegedly ran into the house, grabbed a gun and came outside shooting both officers. Both officers expected to make a full recovery.

Officers returned fire, hitting Koval several times.
