Falmouth PD: Don't Fall for IRS Phone Scam

Falmouth Police are giving residents a heads-up to scammers who are actively calling residents and claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service, saying the residents owe the government money.

Naturally, the scammers demand immediate payment to avoid arrest and jail time.

Falmouth Police say the IRS does not call citizens and will initiate contact via the U.S. Postal Service.

Authorities say if you do receive such a call just hang up and then make sure you report the incident to the Internal Revenue Service.
