Double Stabbing Overnight in Hyannis

A Harwich man is in custody this morning following a double-stabbing overnight in Hyannis.

First responders arrived at 26 Yarmouth Road just before 1:30 a.m. and found two people – a man and a woman – suffering from stab wounds. The male victim bleeding from the abdomen and the woman with a stab wound to her arm.

Barnstable Police were told the suspect fled the area in a black vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Harwich Police stopped a vehicle matching the description. Barnstable officers arrived on the scene and arrested James Metellus, 28, of 6 Sassafras Lane in Harwich. He was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

 The stabbing victims are both expected to survive. One described as having minor injuries and the other having moderate injuries.
