The monthly meeting of the Steamship Authority Board of Governors takes place today. The meeting has been moved from Nantucket to Martha’s Vineyard amid continued concerns about the abundance of mechanical issues the ferry service provider has faced this year.
There has been more than three times the number of mechanical breakdowns so far this year than in the four previous years combined.
Marc Hanover, the Vineyard representative of the SSA’s Board of Governors, says he will push for an outside independent review of the boat line.
The meeting takes place at 4 p.m. today at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Performing Arts Center.
