Slain YPD K9 Sgt. Sean Gannon Honored Posthumously

Slain Yarmouth K9 Sgt. Sean Gannon will be posthumously honored today by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.

In a statement, the organization says Gannon, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on April 12, will be awarded the annual “Big of the Year” which will be presented to Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson on Gannon’s behalf.

The “Big of the Year” award recognizes someone who has had a significant, positive, and lasting impact in the lives of children.

Gannon had volunteered for three years with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands. He was a Big Brother to a 12-year old named Rylee.

The award ceremony will take place tonight at 5:45 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on Dalton Street.
