Yarmouth PD Presents Children's Cove with $6,735

Children’s Cove, the Cape & Islands’ Child Advocacy Center, has more than $6,700 today thanks to a hair-raising experience by the Yarmouth Police Department.

The men and women of the Yarmouth PD completed their special “Beards for a Benefit” fundraiser and presented Children’s Cove with a check for $6,735.

Yarmouth Police officers who donated a minimum of $100 were allowed to grow facial hair for the first time in the department’s history, from November 26 to February 24. Most of the officers and Emergency 9-1-1 Dispatchers have taken a razor to the whiskers, but a few were allowed to wear their growth for an extra month if they volunteered for the Polar Plunge for Seniors or gave blood at the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Blood Drive for Cape Cod Healthcare.
