Wareham Crossing Guard Struck by Vehicle

A school crossing guard in Wareham was struck by a motorist this morning.

Wareham Police Chief Kevin Walsh, in a news release, reports the incident happened around 7 a.m. on Marion Road (Rte 6) in the area of Viking Drive.

Officers and EMS personnel responded to the scene and discovered the crossing guard, a 59-year old female, had been hit by a vehicle driven by a 76-year old male Wareham resident who remained on the scene and had made the report to Wareham Police.

The injured woman sustained injuries deemed not life-threatening and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Wareham EMS.

Wareham Police say identities of those involved will not be released at this time and the investigation into the incident continues.
