A Cape Cod couple has given the Cape Cod Toys for Tots program a jump on the 2017 campaign.
Lucas and Maddie Burnley, who moved to the Cape in September from Albuquerque, New Mexico, recently held an online fundraiser and over the course of a weekend raised nearly $50,000 for the Toys for Tots campaign. The couple came to the Toys ‘R Us store in Hyannis on Monday for shopping spree number one:
Maddie Burnley says while social media often gets a bad rap these days, it can also be a powerful and beneficial tool for endeavors such as theirs.
This is the fifth year that the Burnley’s have held the fundraiser and they say the amount donated has virtually doubled each year.
