72nd MV Fishing Tourney Wraps; Record # of Anglers

The 72nd Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby wrapped up over the weekend.  The Vineyard Gazette says this year’s event saw a record 33-hundred-82 anglers involved.

Edgartown resident, Trish Lyman, a derby volunteer for the past eleven years, took home the top prize for a boat-caught false albacore that tipped the scale at 12.23 pounds. For her efforts, Lyman won a brand new Suburu Crosstrek SUV.

Taking home the top prize for a shore-caught striper was John Stasiuk, from Northford, CT and a seasonal Vineyard resident. Stasiuk landed a 29.61 pound striper the first night of the four-week tournament and it held the top spot all four weeks. For his efforts, Stasiuk will be taking home a new boat and trailer.
