State Representative Tim Whelan has been chosen to attend a 50-state conference on public safety. The event will take place in Washington, D.C. in November.
The Brewster Republican and former Mass State Police Sergeant will join state Department of Correction Commissioner Tom Turco, Mass Parole Board Chairman, Paul Tressler, and Cannabis Control Commissioner and former State Senator, Jennifer Flanagan to represent Massachusetts at the Public Safety Summit.
The Bay State group will share successful strategies designed to improve outcomes for those with mental health and substance-use disorders, reduce crime and recidivism, and reduce spending on prisons and jurisdictions.
Whelan recently completed the prestigious Council of State Governments leadership development program and was recognized by the Council as a Henry Toll Fellow.
