MA Tops Nation in Energy Efficiency

Death, taxes, and Massachusetts will be named the most energy efficient state in the country.

It has almost become that certain.

For the seventh straight year, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy has named the Bay State the number one state in the U.S. in energy efficiency. Massachusetts scored 44.5 points out of a possible 50, beating out the next closest state by more than two points.

Earlier this year, ACEEE also announced its first-ever Utility Energy Efficiency Scorecard, assessing the performance of the 51 largest electric utilities in the country using a range of energy efficiency metrics. Eversource earned the number one spot on the list, due in large part to the utility’s success in developing and administering programs like Mass Save, that save energy and money for its residential and business customers.
