A Barnstable Police officer was injured Wednesday night when he was involved in a car crash while on route to a report of shots fired at a home in Centerville.
The report of gunshots at a house on Shootflying Hill Road came in just before 9 p.m. One of the responding officers in a Barnstable Police SUV was involved in a car crash with a sedan. Both vehicles had heavy damage and the driver of the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Barnstable officers who arrived at the house on Shootflying Hill Rd determined there had been five shots fired at the home with one person suffering injuries severe enough to require a MedFlight helicopter to a Boston Hospital. The extent of those injuries, however, have not been released.
Both incidents are under investigation by the Barnstable Police.
