The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, today, will conduct a regulatory conference with the owner of the Pilgrim Nuclear Plant to discuss an apparent violation of NRC requirements.
The violation involves an emergency diesel generator and has been preliminarily classified as “greater than green”, meaning greater than a low to moderate safety infraction.
Emergency diesel generators provide back-up power to nuclear plant safety systems if power from the electrical grid is interrupted.
The meeting, which is open to the public, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the NRC’s Region 1 Office in King of Prussia, PA.
