An Orleans man faces numerous charges after leading police on an extended search and chase.

Nathaniel Burnie, 27, was apprehended and arrested after allegedly being involved in two separate accidents and the theft of a box truck.

Burnie was driving a silver Honda CRV when he allegedly crashed into a Volkswagen bus and fled the scene. While Eastham Police were at that accident scene, they received word of a roll-over accident on Bridge Road. Arriving officers found a silver Honda CRV crashed in the woods but no operator around. Witnesses told police they observed a male walking, then running from the scene. A police K-9 unit lost the man’s track after about two miles.

About an hour later, Eastham Police received a call about a box truck stolen from a home on Bridge Road. That truck was discovered parked in the roadway on Main Street. A search of the area found Burnie on the bike path in Orleans. Following an on-scene investigation, Burnie was arrested on charges stemming from the three incidents including OUI, Larceny of a motor vehicle and Leaving the scene of an accident.

He was arraigned Tuesday in Orleans District Court.
