Yarmouth PD Arrest Wanted Level 3 Sex Offender

Yarmouth Police, Thursday morning, captured a Level 3 Sex Offender considered armed and dangerous just minutes after releasing information that the individual was wanted.

Kevin F. Cahoon, 53, was spotted just before noon riding a bicycle behind a building off of Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth by a member of the Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit. Cahoon violently resisted arrest and during the attack, shot at the officer with a flare gun and reached for a knife.

The officer managed to overcome the attack and Cahoon was placed in custody with the assistance of other off-duty police officers who happened to be in the area and came to his defense.

Cahoon is currently under heavy guard and being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Cape Cod Hospital. The officer involved suffered a minor injury and was evaluated at Cape Cod Hospital and released.

Cahoon will be held in custody at Yarmouth Police Headquarters until his arraignment Friday in Barnstable District Court on numerous charges including the attack and shooting at a Police Officer, several break-ins, and a pending rape case.
