How difficult was the Cape exodus on Route 6 on Monday? Chances are an elite marathon runner could cover the distance between South Dennis to the Sagamore Bridge faster than those who were in their car.
Massachusetts State Police say at its worst, there was a 17 mile backup on Route 6 heading towards the Sagamore.
The traffic jam was less severe on Route 25 getting off Cape over the Bourne Bridge although that was not without its problems.
A two-car accident eastbound around 3 p.m. resulted in State Police needing to close one lane westbound of Route 25, causing a backup. Two people were injured in that crash that had one car rolled over in the median. One person was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham with unknown injuries.
