Final Report Out on Crash That Killed FHS Seniors

A car accident

The Falmouth Police Department has released the final report on the crash last December 22 that resulted in the death of two Falmouth High School seniors.

A State Police crash reconstruction report recently released stated that the vehicle, operated by James Lavin, 17, was traveling recklessly at a high rate of speed and illegally passed another vehicle over a double yellow line. The report states that Lavin lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree. Lavin was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger and friend, Owen Higgins, 17, was taken by MedFlight to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Medical Examiner’s toxicology report stated that both Lavin and Higgins had THC in their system. THC is the active ingredient found in marijuana.
