The Joy of Watercolor, Fundamentals for Beginners with Stefanie Taranto
(4) Mondays, September 9 - September 30, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

This class is designed to introduce the joy of watercolor…Just start! The fundamentals of watercolor along with composition and color will be taught during this four-week class. If you have dabbled in watercolor before and have a set, and some watercolor brushes, please bring them. If you do not have any materials for the first week, some supplies will be provided for you to use in the classroom. Students are asked to bring three pieces of fruit to the first class.

Pencil 2b, or HB suggested
Sketchbook
Eraser, Staedtler Mars Plastic are great
Brushes- Bring what you have, we will discuss options in week one
Watercolor set: Van Gogh half pan sets are nice, as well as Sakura Koi tube sets for entry-level, are nice. (Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton are great too, professional-level )
Watercolor papers will be discussed during the 1st class, but feel free to bring your own if you have a preference
Blue painter's tape or artist's tape
Masonite board to tape your painting to, or equivalent
Palette- paper plates
Stefanie Taranto, Fine Artist, is influenced by the process of translating observation into narrative, painting within the continuum between representation and abstraction. Stefanie received her BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She recently moved to Cape Cod, MA.
Her current series is in oil pastel and acrylic; additionally, she is well-versed in watercolor, dry pastel, pencil, and pen and ink. Her works hang in private collections and corporate environments, most recently a 5 piece grouping in the historic Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, in 2017. Stefanie shows annually in individual and group shows as well as select fine art fairs. Recent awards include “Best in Pastel” from Art in the Barn, 2016, and the “Purchase Award” from the Schaumburg Cultural Commission, 2015.
The Cape Cod Museum of Art is committed to making Art accessible to everyone in the Cape Cod Community. The Museum School Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to qualified, year-round Cape Cod residents ages 6 and up.
