Barnstable County officials are set to examine the Joint Base Cape Cod master plan soon.
The plan will be the design for all base activities and its relationship with the civilian community for the coming years.
The Cape Cod Commission will consider the base's current land use and its sustainability.
Joint Base Cape Cod currently oversees military training and related activity, but also waste management and water treatment testing.
The master plan has not been updated since 1998.
