Harwich Selectmen Approve Budget

The Harwich Select Board has approved a budget document for Fiscal Year 2025 of more than 45-point-seven-million dollars.

The figure is an increase of eight-point-one percent over the previous year and came about through increased overtime costs, health insurance and debt service, a new human resources position, plus expenses for the community center and the county's retirement assessment.

While the amount to go before voters is one concern, officials are also considering the timing, as the finance committee did not receive information on the document until 24 hours before a public hearing.

In all, there are 54 articles on the warrant for Town Meeting Day, which is May 6th. The board meets again on Thursday.
