The state Medical Examiner's office will work to determine a cause of death from human remains discovered Thursday on Nantucket.

Police say a seasonal resident from Connecticut was searching for dropped deer antlers in the Tom Nevers neighborhood at around 5 pm when he discovered an intact skull and several bones.

The area is swampy, and there are several deer stands in the area.

State and local police are continuing their investigation, and say nothing has been ruled out.

Nantucket Police Chief Lieutenant Angus MacVicar says he is confident the identity of the remains will be ascertained.
