A federal judge has ruled that Venezuelan asylum seekers sent to Martha's Vineyard in 2022 may file suit against the aircraft charter company.

In her decision, US District Court Judge Allison Burroughs ruled the plaintiffs may sue Vertol Systems.

The State of Florida chartered the company to transport the individuals to the island, on the orders of Governor Ron DeSantis.

The plaintiffs are three Venezuelans, and Alianza America, an advocacy group.

Burroughs ruled that DeSantis, state officials, and others have been dismissed from the suit, but civil rights advocates will continue to pursue charges against them.
